3rd and 4th Grade Art

Art GOALS for Third and Fourth Grade 


  • Review Elements of Art: line, shape, color, texture, value, form, space and how they are used to create art
  • Learn drawing skills through art concepts of expressive line  and pattern self-portrait, and balance (symmetry , asymmetry, and radial).
  • Learn painting skills that include warm vs cool colors,  value, tints, silhouettes and various painting techniques.
  • Learn about 3-Dimensional art through clay; learning ceramic slab techniques, additive sculptures, and glazing techniques.
  • Learn about various famous artists through books and looking at pictures their art.
  • All students participate in the No Place for Hate Art Contest focusing on "Strength in Community & Diversity" 
  • Study in depth about Vincent Van Gogh and his famous Starry Night.
  • ​Content connections to enrich curriculum to Colorado Native American unit
  • Connect literature to art  through various projects and stories
  • Connections to math through various art projects
